Kayak Coaching in Gisborne

One on One Coaching...

For the adult wishing to improve his or her stroke technique. Ideal for the multi-sport athlete, paddlers doing surf ski races, or just the paddler wishing to improve. Sessions last about 1.5 hours and will cost $75

I am the Development Coach for Poverty Bay, paid for by CRNZ, { Canoe Racing NZ }. We have one club in the region, at Anzac Reserve called Poverty Bay
Kayak Club.

I am now in my 2nd year as coach for the region, and now have regularly 20 odd teens paddling at training. We started with 3 paddlers in the club 18 months ago.

One of my charges has since training with me, made the NZ U/21 NZ team for a trans Tasman test in December 07. I was lucky enough to be coach for the boys team, who all trained under me in Gisborne before the event. Darryl Fitzgerald is now in the High Performance squad, here in Gisborne, for the team hopefully going to the 2012 Olympics.

As well as being the club coach for kayaking, i also run one on one technique sessions, at lunch times, for those wishing to learn more kayaking skills, and to train for specific races.

One on One sessions, to suit the client will cost $75 for around 1 1/2 hours coaching.

At the moment i have a squad of 4 or so paddlers, who train with me regularly on Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes at 12.30pm. Some are training for a multi-sport race, and some for surf ski series I am running this summer.

I myself am training for the Lake to Lighthouse race in November this year, and the 30km surf ski race in Auckland, known as "the King of the Harbour" on the 31st January 2009. So you will be pushed by me for sure!!!
